Anxiety Bouts Affect Friendships
from: Oze ParrotPeople, who are suffering from the effects of an anxiety disorder, tend to be withdrawn, avoid other people and shirk responsibilities to their loved ones. This has a negative affect on the people in their lives by placing a great strain on their relationships, and in many cases, relationships risk being completely destroyed. Young, single people have the added burden of coping with their anxiety while dating.
Anxiety disorder is, more often than not, caused by stress, and a stressful relationship with certain people can actually be the cause of their anxiety disorder. A feeling of inadequacy when dating, not being able to discuss the problem with your close friends, why doesn't your partner understand your condition? Do you blame yourself for a marriage break up? These are just a few of the apprehensions that an anxious person may have that places a strain on their personal relationships.
A person, who is constantly living in a stressful situation, must take on a course of action to alleviate the stress before an anxiety condition develops. This is the time for a person to consolidate their relationships, rather than just have them crumble because of repeated bouts of anxiety. Unfortunately, the hectic lifestyle that we lead doesn't leave us with enough time, to give consideration to a neighbor that is concerned about a seemingly minor problem.
Small problems can create stress, which can lead to a relationship breakdown that can result in a chronic anxiety disorder. People in this situation can suffer from many physical discomforts such as, insomnia, eating disorders, loss of weight, lethargy and illness. Any of these disorders will only increase a person's anxiety that may develop into a deep rooted sense of depression.
Children, teenagers, young married couples and successful business people, are all confronted with stressful situations from time to time that could lead to bouts of anxiety, unless the situation is dealt with appropriately.
Most parents with young children deal with stress on a daily basis, which can result in constant bickering, blaming the kids for no reason and other discontenting practices. When parents fight openly, young children tend to blame themselves for the incident and this can produce some anxious moments for them, especially when they are alone. Repeatedly arguing in the home can have a detrimental affect on the children's well being, as this type of behavior may cause a child to suffer from constant bouts of anxiety. A complete breakdown of the family unit is then likely, which will affect their relationship with every person in their lives.
If you, or a family member is diagnosed with anxiety disorder, then take the time to discuss the matter with a loved one, or a close friend in order to address the situation. When you make a serious effort to confront your problems and openly discuss them with others, you are well on the way to winning the battle with anxiety.
Your support, for a loved one or friend who is affected by anxiety, will provide them with additional strength to help them overcome their condition.
